Croatia, or more specifically Splt and the local islands. I am just back from 2 weeks of relaxed bliss on the island of Brac. If anyone is looking for a relaxing holiday venue where the pace is nice and slow then this is certainly somewhere you should consider.

A beautiful part of the world with very helpful and welcoming people. Equally important for a family including 2 children (5 & 9) it was a very safe and user friendly place. Children welcome everywhere but never too loud or invasive.

All in all great food, great beer, great people and great scenery.

Travelled the length of Croatia a few years ago and can only mirror your comments - great place, people, scenery, food... lol, the list go's on.
Did you manage to get out to Hvar?

The Dalmatian coast has been on my too-see list for a while now. The pictures I've seen look absolutely stunning.

We had every intention of going to Hvar but found so much to do on Brac and over on the mainland that we didnt find the time. We fully intend to return and visit some of the other islands and make a trip down to Dubrovnik.

We are catching the Sat night ferry from Ancona to Split for a week on the Dalmation coast and will be based near Dubrovnik. We will have the bikes in the car and hope to do some cycling. I have heard some excellent reports about Croatia - looking forward to it.
