Morrissey is sh!te, and a nobber to boot.
Mr Cohen has some class....certainly in his choice of backing vocalists.

if not in his choice of financial advisers.....

I do think the Smiths were extremely funny. There's an almost Whitmanesque delight in this....

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well the pleasure, the privilege is mine

Christ it's hard work managing you lot in the Caff. Has no one got anything to say about the Penguin Classics thing???
only that a mutual friend grew up with every Penguin ever published lining the walls of the bathrooms and downstairs toilet. My favourite stooltime reading was this undoubted classic.....

I agree.

"Dear Charles, don't you ever crave
To appear on the front of the Daily Mail
Dressed in your mother's bridal veil"

No mainstream groups seem able to produce lyrics of wit and intelligence any more.

Could you please explain to me how this lyric is witty and intelligent, or were you being ironic?

Pity, it would have been much funnier if you had.

Bit rich coming from someone with an execrable pun for a username.

So, I broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty spanner
She said, "I know you, and you cannot sing"
I said, "That's nothing, you should hear me play piano"

Lyrically self-aware, self-deprecating and funny. Some don't see it. Kraftwerk are hilarious as well.

OK I've now read it and it says nothing to me about my life....

(Actually that's a lie, Amazon haven't delivered yet - i was just simply dying to get that line in first)

Full of spineless swines, cemented minds?

"Penguin Classics will release a complete and unabridged digital download of Morrissey's Autobiography on 5 December 2013. The audiobook is read by acclaimed actor David Morrissey."

Don't want you missing out...[/quote]

I'll not be adding to his coffers.

I don't do audio books.
