This week my school has been celebrating National Sports Week albeit a week later than the rest of the country.

Yesterday I was leading cycling activities in the local park when we were hit with a deluge far more extreme than I'd ever encountered. The kids instantly decided that they'd might as well continue with the cycling as they be just as wet if they tried to reach school to take shelter.

Just as we'd decided enough was enough and started to make our way back the rain stopped. Here's a snap shot of me taken by the head of PE who was impressed our stupidity.

And not just in Leeds!

Turned the corner from Holborn into S'oton row around 17:10 yesterday to be hit by a wall of water. Cloudburst of near biblical proportions. Eased after around ten minutes under a sunshade in Sicilian Ave but was 30 mins late at Euston.

Tube was still jiggered by floods 2hrs later so biking wins again.

That photo just goes to show what most of us know, come rain or shine cycling is fun and makes you happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That just about sums it up!

Must've been quite a downpour Vern, you do look a bit soggy round the edges!

I'm so pleased I live in one of Britain's dryest places. Apparently, it is a freak of geographical nature that keeps East Lancashire as dry as the Gobi desert.

Yep, tuesday night, just left work, 5 minutes later the thunderstorms of all thunderstorms hit, the heavens opened up with all they could muster. I don't mind cycling in the rain, like you Kirstie can love every minute of it... but this was a major storm so got under some shelter. Worst of it passed over in about 15 minutes, but the roads were like rivers.. Sure people were looking at me cycling along as if I was some sort of nutter.

Tuesday on the way home there's a hill I go up, sure I was overtaken by salmon swimming up the gutter.

Tuesday i was to ill to cycle so took the train. on the way back it pissed down with rain, took 40 mins to get to Victoria from where i work. which usually takes 25 mins. found out victoria was flooded and was closed, so had to get a bus from victoria to clapham junction (which takes 3 mins by train, but takes 30mins by bus) so all in all, my journey took 2 hours by public transport, and usually takes me under an hour by bike ;)
