I always forgot whether I play 'Soduko' or 'Sudoku'! The way that I found to remember which is to think 'Zulu plays Sudoku' - two 'u's each. I still hesitate or get it wrong when saying the word.

We get round that in our house by calling them Okey Dokeys.

Back to the OP, I have problems with occasion and ocassion.

Necessary was my bugbear until college. A friend had problems too and a tutor took us aside and said "Nearly Every Clown Eats Special Sausages At Rehearsals, Y? Because it's necessary" I have never forgotten that and still use it to this day. Probably just the thought of Special Sausages that keeps it in my head :hungry:

I remember it as 'Never Eat Crab, Eat Smoked Salmon'!

I notice a lot of people spell 'definitely' wrong, normally they write 'definately'

'Recommend' gets me, I normally start out by writing recogmend before remembering and retyping it correctly.

I had two friends at school, brothers from Sri Lanka, with an almost impossible surname to pronounce.

They told me their father's name was even more difficult to say, so I thought it must have been a ridiculous name to try and pronounce.

It turned out their father was called 'Cuthbert' and they just couldn't say the 'th' bit.

I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi but I do seem unable to settle on the spelling of 'separate'.

In fact the spell checker just set me straight again. It's been decades and this one just won't stick for me.
