....after a few trial runs getting my route sorted I gave up the train and brompton for a week and commuted the whole way.
Its about 33 miles round trip.
On the whole it was really good.Had one bus driver which overtook me pretty close,I overtook him when he was at a bus stop then half a mile on he overtook again I thought the first was pretty close this time he was about 3 inches from my handlebars ,a private hire people carrier behind me flashing his lights when I looked round and mouthed 'WHAT' he told me to move over ,wasn't quite sure how I was supposed to cycle through the parked cars I was going past and a man who did a u turn into my path who was quite shocked when he nearly got me but he did appologise!
I took great pleasure cycling in the bus lanes past all the traffic.
Back on the brompton today it feels weird!

I did seem to pick a very cold week had 3 pairs of socks on and my feet were still freezing.
I would love a helmet camera are they expensive?

I wasn't being too serious! However, if you are interested have a look at www.dogcamsport.co.uk and www.actioncameras.co.uk.

You can spend anything from about £100 up to thousands! What you spend depends on your budget, what you want to do with it etc.

Have a look. Remember in the discount section we have 10% off a dogcamsport...

I'm already on it!

(I would like to point out that I get absolutely nothing for any helmet cameras that are sold. I wish I did, I'd be halfway to rich by now! If any helmet camera sellers want me to work for commission, I'm sure I can send a few customers your way!)

Well done, my commute is a 17 mile round trip, and have found I am far more aware of potential traffic hazards the more I cycle. I reckon pedestrians crossing the road whilst texting are the worst, had two near misses this morning .

Oh yes, I had one of those this morning. Kind of. I was using a short-cut which goes along a path between two bits of housing estate. It's one of those red-tarmac-for-bikes-on-this-side-black-for-peds-on-the-other-with-a-white-line-down-the-middle things. Yes, I know, yeuch, but I was in a hurry.

So there's "mum" (could have been big sister, hard to tell) with son / younger brother trailing along a few yards behind. She's on the text (presumably to the latest "boyfriend" who's using her as a place to stay for a week or two - see, I can do stereotypes ) and so completely oblivious to the fact that she's walking up the bike bit of the path or that I was behind her.

Son is cool: he is on the ped bit, had spotted me and called out, "mum, mum". Ah, not younger brother then. But she's too busy texting. Noisy gearchange from me. "Mum mum". More frantic thumb activity. "Mum mum". "WHAAAADAHYAWANYAHLIDDLEBLEEDER". "There's a bike mum". Looks up, glares at me, steps grudgingly onto the ped bit. Best winning smile from me, and a cheery "Good morning, thank you". Oh, but the look I got then: it's made the milk curdle in my coffee even now.

AND I wasn't even being sarcastic.

.. don't ask me why I kept jumping around tenses above.

Good plan. I cross a motorway near there. Though that might be a bit dangerous for the traffic below, I guess. Still, there's always the lakes nearby.
