I found a lost pooch

In fact saved from being run over in the car park. Old fella, looked lost and shaky but I eventually caught him. Couldn't find an owner, so after some swift deliberation I put him in the car and rang the dog warden and then took him down.

I figured that if I'd lost a pooch I'd ring all the usual suspects first, so better that and soon, than me keep him.

Quite emotional though, he's just left in a little room overnight with some food and water before being checked tomorrow. They said they keep them 7 days before re-homing them but as this was an old fella.....well the rest remained unsaid. The bloke reckoned 80% are re-united but I don't know if I can resist checking if he has been re-united and if he hasn't, well I don't want to think about that.

I honestly don't know if it's practical to take him, well I know it isn't. I'm going to ring the local vets tomorrow and put up posters where I found him. He looked well padded so I'm sure someone will be missing him, my fear is it's someone old who will just be overcome by his loss and not do the logical thing.

Good on you - lot's of people would have ignored him. He may well be chipped, so fingers crossed for him.

Well done Crackle, I hope the owner does want him and contacts the right people to get him back. It also means that, like me and many others on here, you're an old softee as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He will love you.

Not always as easier as you think, especially since Crackle has another dog. We tried a few years ago to take another one on and it was a disaster and the poor bugger had to go back to the kennels - broke our hearts. Also there is a considerable risk of hefty vets bills with an older dog, espcially one whose history you don't know.

Keep us informed Crackle and hope that the owner claims him asap.

I know what you mean about the emotional thing, I get very attached to animals (couldn't give a toss about most humans...) I hope they find his owner...
