Awww Crackle that was lovely you are a man after my own heart doing that. I hope that the owners do indeed find him and are re-united with him soon. Poor old guy.

I found a dog some years ago now, running all over a very very busy dual carriageway. I manage, god knows how, to stop the car, call him and he came to me. Fortunaly my car has a dog guard and this particular day my dog was not with me, so I put him in the back and took him to the police station.

Anyway, the police took him to the kennels they use and his owners claimed him the next day. I know this, as I went to the kennels he was in to check. The kennels owners told me that the dog owner was not pleased with me ( they did not know me, just not pleased with the person who handed him in ) as they had to pay £25 to get the dog back and said that he was always escaping and always made his way home again.

I was furious, as that dog was so close to be flattened

The dog never had a collar on with a phone number, as that would have been my first call. He was also not chipped.

Anyway, Crackle, hope the ending to your story is a happy one and that, as I have said, his owners find him again :becool:

Hi Crackle,

I found this page and wondered if it might be worth putting an ad in. http://community.vivastreet.co.uk/lost+wirral

Chances are though that someone has probably abandoned the poor old thing - maybe when its owner died or was put in a home.

According to The Dogs Trust’s 2009 Stray Dog Survey, 107,228 stray and abandoned dogs were picked up on UK streets last year, an 11 percent year-on-year increase.

Not long ago, we kept seeing abandoned dogs on the hard shoulder of the M1 and M4. Can't imagine what goes on in the heads of some people.

Thanks for the link Proud2Push. I can't seem to get the create alert to work at the moment, try later. I've registered him on the RSPCA site, just looking for some other sites now, ring the vet and go down where I found him to see if any posters have appeared and put some up myself today or tomorrow.

I realised, with it all happening in the dark, I didn't really get more than a basic impression of him, I hope it's enough for someone to recognise him though.

If it comes to it I can get him into an animal sanctuary where he'll be well looked after and happy. The woman loves dogs more than people...which is fair enough.

Crackle,

good job - hope they find the owner if not - I agree, you should take him/her in...what about those big sad dog eyes....

I 'adopted' a dog when I lived in Spain... when we found it, it was resisting being sh@gged by a bunch of scrapping male dogs, so we christened it "Lesby", took it home, fed it, generally pampered it a bit. Had it in our flat for a couple of days, and it peed everywhere, then did a runner when we took it outside one morning. Never saw Lesby again.

Oh Crackle let us know how it all goes, hopefully his owner will be reunited with him and we will have a happy ending. I found an Alsatian years ago with a pile of rubbish in a layby. He was covered in sores, had hardly any fur and was very thin. I took him home, didnt bother trying to find his owner as they had obviously dumped him.The little sod cost a fortune in vets bills but he(Max)became my best friend.I had him for 7years untill he had to be put to sleep due to severe arthritis.

I spoke to the warden today. No one has claimed him but he did tell me he'd be put up for re-homing.

I hear what you're all saying but I can't take him.
