today, what with a cold and a laptop to carry in to work.

got here and i didn't need the laptop at all

i felt a bit overdressed pootling in proper cycling gear (even aldi's)

Pootling rides are good for you and cycle gear means that you are still comfy, I don't think you were over dressed!
