I just had a quick look at my credit card statement and realise they've increased my limit!!!

Obviously this meant that I was forced to instantly purchase a Campag SR11 front and rear mech  - they made me do it!!!

Now I have to wait for it to be delivered (I hate waiting). If my CC hadn't increased my limit I'd have happily hung on another couple of months but they made me be impatient grrrrr!

PS Goddies should arrive early next week (bloody Bank Holidays in the way).

PPS. Anyone on the lookout for Camapg Record 10 Front/Rear mechs? (they'll be up soon in the classified section)

Nooooooooooo............

What is it with banks increasing the credit limit without asking?

They really are a law unto themselves sometimes.

Then I had that recently when they insisted I should have a credit card.
No I haven't got one and in a way im glad I haven't.

I only use mine in emergencies and then pay off in one go at month end.

They recognised this and upped my limit to a higher amount, thinking that I'd start spending and wouldn't be able to pay of of the increased balance in one go.

I emailed there head honcho and got an apology and they reduced my limit again.

They're bloody bar stewards.

Your new equipment has just allowed someone at your CC company to go on his annual holidays

I must seriously p*** of my cc company. When we moved house I put a serious amount of money on the card funding home improvements, I then balance transfered the lot to another card for the interest free period before they could charge me interest on it. I have now been paying of the money interest free for over twelve months now, and I have not brought anything with the card. Reminds me I must check how long is left before they start charging interest.

I've cancelled my credit card with a well known bank with a black horse. They've put the APR up twice and keep increasing my limit (this also means that it can make it harder for you to get credit elsewhere as you have a really high limit and the potential to get into a lot of debt so makes you look more of a risk). I've got a more competitive card with another bank.

I used to like it a few years ago when they didn't have balance transfer handling fees and regularly had 0% offers. I used to transfer the entire limit into my current account, transfer that into my savings account. You'd pay the minimum on the card every month and after the 0% see if you could get another one or pay off the remaining balance in full. Nice little interest earner that one. Now they've introduced the handling fee it's knocked that one on the head.

If you have a serious amount of money on the card its still worth looking for a zero interest balance transfer deal, the handling fee is normally nowhere near what you are likely to pay in interest. I normally research it as much as I can before deciding which way to go, I normally make use of Money supermarket.com

well, i missed my payment this month because i was busy and forgot and they put me through to the collections department... for a payment that was 3 days overdue. When i rang up they said i was two payments over due. i said, "how do you work that out" and they said because my next payment was due on 24th April. So i said "Well, it's not the 24th April yet???". Anyway they have now reduced my credit limit... again. Hmmm funny how over the years they have neither increased or reduced it when i've asked, but they can put it up and reduce it whenever they like. One time they reduced my limit to within 50 quid of what my balance was... and sent me a letter. Of course, the letter arrived to tell me my limit was reduced the day after i had spent about 60 quid on it believing i was in credit. Lo and behold they then whacked a charge on because i went over the limit!!!!

The charge didn't stand very long when i threatened to involve the Ombudsman but they've been funny with me ever since. I am back at my mum's now and renting my flat out and this will be the first card i get rid of. i will never have another card once i have cleared the ones i've got.
