In my student days when I was in my final year, we had some very noisy 1st year arty students living next door. Loud music, parties every night whilst we were trying to study for our finals. We had tried numerous occasions to get them to turn it down but to no avail. So my mate got his super duper huge floor stander speakers 3 speakers in each cabinet, huge buggers, from home and this huge amp, NAD I think it was some 3,000,000 watts or something similar. So the next weekday night they were disturbing us having an impromptu noise session, he put on Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer, which might indicate how long ago it was, put it on repeat, cranked up the volume and then we went down the pub. It was about 8.30pm. We could even hear Peter Gabriel sitting in the pub about 1/4 mile away

. When we went home about an hour later, the flat next door was totally silent. Result! We never heard a peep out of them again. They were really nice to us as well.
One of the arty girl's projects was a piece of card 5ft x 4ft with dry pasta shapes and red paint or blood chucked over it. We had to do battle with Schroedinger's Equation. She got funding for her course as well .......... Who said education is being dumbed down
