I hate my neighbours

I feel for you Plax. I had noisy neighbours for a while, especially their dog although sometimes their music could be loud too. They admitted that at least but still kept the dog for months after and carried on with the loud music. Three or four months later I got back to a damaged front door; it looked like claw marks (I live in a block of flats with a secure door) and suspected their dog, they never admitted it but shortly after the dog disappeared and their noise seemed to settle down. I ended up feeling sorry for them however when they were repossessed a few months later.

Let me add my sympathies - not that it helps. What a nightmare. No wonder you feel the need to let off a bit of steam...

My in laws once had a noisy neighbour with music (many years ago)...... they did the turn the speakers to the wall, turn the sound up and go out......all day.......... bonus point is that they had a business that made speakers (so the ones in the house were rather good) and found some horrendous organ music............ needless to say it worked...but that was then, not today's society...........

You need to do things officially......dance music all night all the time is not funny....

I've actually thought of doing that more than once.

Sounds awful

I think rather than respond in kind the best thing is to tape the noise with a careful diary so the timings are clear.

The police will (reluctantly) get involved, but only if you've carefully gathered evidence.

Definitely don't play loud music back

The problem, of course, depending on your neighbours, is how they'll react to you threatening the police.

I would complain to your neighbours 1st in person - in a nice way

If they continue I would write to them saying you will record them and inform the police.

Obviously this is very difficult when you have to live next door to someone, and there is no easy answer

I think this website talks a lot of sense - good luck

Wow Plax that's terrible.

I would start recording the noise, and keep a diary of it so you can evidence a nuisance complaint. I'd give them notice that you're doing it as a strong indication that they are causing a serious problem.

I'd be sorely tempted to blast back at them - maybe with Merzbow orThrobbing Gristle ?!? - that would do it, but best to maintain the moral high ground.

I have noisy neighbours but it's not as bad as you describe. But they are inconsiderate, and that really bugs me.

My neighbour has pulled that trick....left his music on and effed off out.

In my student days when I was in my final year, we had some very noisy 1st year arty students living next door. Loud music, parties every night whilst we were trying to study for our finals. We had tried numerous occasions to get them to turn it down but to no avail. So my mate got his super duper huge floor stander speakers 3 speakers in each cabinet, huge buggers, from home and this huge amp, NAD I think it was some 3,000,000 watts or something similar. So the next weekday night they were disturbing us having an impromptu noise session, he put on Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer, which might indicate how long ago it was, put it on repeat, cranked up the volume and then we went down the pub. It was about 8.30pm. We could even hear Peter Gabriel sitting in the pub about 1/4 mile away . When we went home about an hour later, the flat next door was totally silent. Result! We never heard a peep out of them again. They were really nice to us as well.

One of the arty girl's projects was a piece of card 5ft x 4ft with dry pasta shapes and red paint or blood chucked over it. We had to do battle with Schroedinger's Equation. She got funding for her course as well .......... Who said education is being dumbed down :becool:?

I've been keeping a record of the noise but I hadn't thought about recording it. I have a video camera so I'll dig that out, charge it up and see how that goes.

It is tempting to blast music back a them, but I've never really been a music enthusiast so I don't have a stereo. I do have a radio and a radio alarm clock that plays CDs but somehow I suspect that just won't cut the mustard.
It wouldn't surprise me if he would just crank his up louder. Several months ago he had his music so loud that when I went round to complain I banged on the door, no response. Banged on the living room window, no response. In the end I just walked into his house (his front door leads straight into his living room). I shouted "excuse me" at him several times but he had his back to me and couldn't hear. In the end I shouted oi at him really loud and he finally realised I was standing in his doorway. *evil thought* I should have taken the opportunity to smack him one of the head and have it done with, it's not as if anyone would have heard me *evil thought*. Some people are sent to try you.

Well I will need my concentration which is going to be affected by the clowns banging about upstairs.Still it's not the first time in my career that I will go to work knackered.

I wonder how bus drivers cope.Im sure im not the only one.
