I hate road works

Despite being fitter than ever, my average speed to and from work is dropping consistently. I am not over training, undernourished or lazy... Bloody road works and subsequent traffic backing up is bringing my pace right down.

My main, and only route home has been decimated by works on 3 major roundabouts between Leeds and Bradford and this looks set to continue for many months to come.

Rant over... or is it? :bicycle:

You must have the best job in the world if you are in that much of a rush to get there. ;0)

Hah, no chance am I getting up at 04:22!

Sadly I am customer facing and need to be in during typical office hours. I think my boss would be having words if I arrived at 5am and left at 2pm. I am fortunate enough to be allowed to arrive at 8 and leave at 4, any more and I wouldn't be contactable in the afternoon and it would negatively effect the business needs! This is Bradford we are talking about and a slight sniff of rain or roadworks instantly equates to tailbacks and gridlock.

They may well be the worst laid roads I've come across.

There not that bad.
I never said anything about leaving early either. Leave after 6pm, just before the Leeds 2 hour rush hour starts!
You coming up through Rodley?

No I take a right to pudsey at the Thornbury roundabout. You are right though, the roundabouts themselves aren't too bad, it's Leeds Road usually which is backed up. The hill can be a challenge as it gets narrow in places, and the fact it's a bit of a slog doesn't help!

Here in China the biggest causes for hold ups when commuting are the numerous traffic lights but in addition to that the many hundreds of E-Scooters that plod along. Many of them are ridden by people who think they are to be used for chatting with your friends on the way home and they ride 3 and sometimes 4 abreast going down the roads and cycle lanes.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
