We're all just fish in the sea...and there but for the Grace of god go I...

You're right - I'll shut up.

(I was going to add that it i=s good to have a birds eye view but all that feeling for bones would leave you with fish fingers - but that's a bit too am. ain't it? )

Shouldn't you be an obedient son today- what you doing harassing CCers??

I tried it once - the gutting Mackerel business...I felt a right spratt.:ohmy:::smile::sad: ok ok.

It would depend on the type of fish whether it was grain on/off - there's a whole art to sashimi presentation.

What went wrong with the mackerel?

Could be pressure applied to knife cause that can crush the flesh

To be fair, I'm exaggerating the horror of it. But I stared at the fillets for a while wondering which way to cut, and in the end made the wrong decision. Next time I will tweeze the bones as you suggest and do it differently. If I'm pleased with it, I'll post a pic for you to have a laugh.

Don't worry Teef -I'll just garotte you with a cheese cutter on the next ride...

all this talk of fish -you'll get your just desserts

Well to put in perspective, I had trouble skinning last nights Mackerel when making the kids fish Goujons. I think I'll pass on this Japanese finery, a man has his limits. I'm off to read 'teef's new thread, hurry up man!

Blimey! Just for a few puns? What will happen to me next time I cock up the sashimi?

Skin side down - look at the fish flesh and that should tell you which direction to go. tweezing is better than pulling out with fingers as that wrecks the neatness.

I'm sure it wasn't that bad - at home, the taste is what matters.
Not a fan of mackerel myself...!

Fresh mackerel goujons, eh? Doesn't sound like the junior Crackles do too badly.

i have a low pun threshold...

no jokes aside..Teef brings out my special brand of humour

Mackerel, did I say Mackerel: I did. Haddock not Mackerel.

Anyway they didn't eat them all, though they did last time, so the dog ended up looking content.

It hurts when food doesn't get eaten.

Thank you, I'm afraid my batter was not perfect, so they could have looked better but they tasted good, just ask the dog.
