SL4, that's tremendous news! For the opening ceremony I presume - did you have a segment number on your offer?

The segment number is 52-BIK-V. The offer states that you will be kicked off if you can't make all the rehearsals, looks like I'm 1. Going to have fly back from Spain for a 5 hr rehearsal, 2. Have to miss the last Friday and Saturday of the TdF and travel by Eurostar to watch the final in Paris to return for Monday morning training ! But it's gotta be worth it, once in a life time me thinks

I just got rejected!! Did say I was a back-up though.....not sure I would be able to make all the sessions, but let's see

Thank you so much for you attending an audition for the opportunity to become a Volunteer Performer at one of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Ceremonies. We hope you enjoyed it! We were overwhelmed by the response to audition and we apologise for the delay in contacting you, but we are now completing all decisions.

At the present time we are not able to offer you a performance role in one of the Ceremonies. However, we are still very interested in keeping you as a reserve performer and therefore have placed you on our Volunteer Performer reserve list.

This means that if or when a suitable role becomes available you will be contacted with a formal offer to perform at one of the Ceremonies together with your audition schedule. As we have now started rehearsals we are finding that some people are unable to continue so we are already starting to contact our reserve list when suitable roles become available.

Jay, disappointing that you've not got a place at the first attempt, but judging but the rate of dropouts reported elsewhere there's a great chance that you'll get called up pretty quickly...

Hi jay,

Yes I was at the cycling audition! The email just explains I have been accepted for the opening ceremony and it is a skilled role..

Interested to know your thoughts on it, I was particularly surprised with the comment on re imbursing for our time! But most surprised at the fact it seems to be a simple email that will get you in the opening ceremony!

You might be relieved to hear that this group still has to audition (which hasn't taken place, despite the first rehearsal being only a couple of weeks away)... And I doubt renumeration will be much more than a bit of chocolate cake and a Dr Pepper!
