Its all done, handed my last assignment in today, completed my final exam as well.

I'm scared though, now, I have just realise why it was taking me so long to do my assignments. It's because I have not got the faintest idea of what to do next.

Yes I know, hopefully I'm going to be going back to do the top up in applied horticulture in September to hopefully get a BSc, however I'm a little bit worried about the temporary job market out there at the moment.

Have just sent off an email to a place I worked at last summer to ask if they have any work for me. Anyone any ideas what I could do over the summer?

Has anyone had a strange summer job? and would like to share what it was?

Kind regards

Well done! :wahhey: :wahhey:

Strangest summer job? Well, I ended up driving an ex-mobile library full of bikes round the country doing try-out roadshows. That was often very strange.

Congratulations!
I hope you will be able to turn over a new leaf in your life and branch-out in a new direction. The grass is always greener on the other side, but I'd hedge your bets and dig around for some Privet work as well as working for a company. Make lots of calls and I'm sure you'll soon be reaping what you sow. You may even be able to fork-out on a new bike.

Congratulations Gromit. That reminds me of a quote by Dorothy Parker. During some word game, she was challenged to include horticulture in a saying. She responded, "You can lead a horticulture, but you cannot make her think."

My best summer job ( or any other time job) was as a deckchair attendant on Brighton beach during the summer of 1976.

Girls, swimming, drink, sun - happy days.

When I was 15 I worked on a building site one summer, on cement mixer duties. This was before all that Health and Safety nonsense. Bought an electric guitar with the dosh! :becool:

Well done btw!!!

Thank you all.

I have just been offered some work on a casual basis working for Stockbridge Technology Centre, its a place I did my work placement last year.

I'm also applying for a summer research place at Harper Adams University, learning to do Agronomy.

Hilldodger I would love to help out on some shows however it will all depend on how much work they give me at Stockbridge or whether I get the Agronomy placement. I will let you know how it all pans out.

Gromit, how about Woofing?

It started in the UK http://www.wwoof.org.uk/ but has spread worldwide. http://www.wwoof.org/

I haven't tried it because I'm a bit ancient to be hurling hundredweights of compost about - but I was very tempted by a month on a smallholding on Gran Canaria.

I would love to try it but I'm a self supported student, I need to earn £2850 for my tuition fees for next year. If I don't do it this time round before next years increase to £7500 I will never be able to.
