I heard everyone was crashing and I enjoyed it so much last time...

Depends on how they are adjusted. Hardcore (bonkers) riders have them crancked up so that only a hard roatation of the foot will release them (kick out the heel).

Me, I have mine so loose that a good tug...in any direction...(even vertically) will un-clip. I do tighten then for MTB riding...a little

My pedals are set at the tightest level. And with the few off's I have had they have always unclipped.

If you ignore the hills in the background, the surfaces of some of the fen roads i cycle are like the abandoned A625 in
the peak district:

Done that on my road bike a couple of times. ^_^ One section you do have to get off and haul the bike up a vertical five foot drop as the road has sunk that much. Good fun !

My old Looks are done up tight - infact both pedals are top of the range, but also have the hardest springs. Never had a problem coming un attached in a fall. The only ones where you do end up clipped in are 'clipless moments'.

My point exactly...HARDCORE!!

Funny story.... I did have an off on the MTB (around Bewl reservoir, I went straight over the bars) and ended up looking like an upturned turtle...lying on my back, bike clipped into my feet above me...legs still spinning...So perhaps I'm too spooked to tighten them too much

It has been noted by me in vids that the rider does seem to unclip in accidents, even pro's just cannot figure out how. Whenever I clip in my habit is a really hard tug on the up stroke to confirm I am in, seems to be a great force would be need to unclip both feet, which I cannot fathom how.

Hope you are back on the bike commuting today Gaz

Have you stayed inside the town? there's been a fair bit around about although not as much as last year and we had a very mild spell in West Fife, until today but even then its been limited to very light and sun/snow showers.

Yeah only stuck to the town, seen a few showers of snow on saturday but never came to anything

it seems to me when you're coming off your bike it's the sidewards motion. I say this as I've noticed 3 or 4 times now with speedplay fallers is that the leg which has free movement to the outside detaches but the leg that is coming against the bike/cranks stays locked in. If the rider hasn't restricted the float (eg Zero), you'll find that your let hits the frame before the release angle is reached. Speedplay are the only system I know that need that much sideways motion.
