My son has a medical condition called CVS (Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome).
He's had it since very young and it has caused us no end of hospital admissions.
So much so, we have a direct admission policy where he skips the GP/out of hours doctor, and goes straight to the ward for immediate IV hydration and drugs.

He hasn't had an episode for over a year, and I thought we were winning this battle.
He vomited this afternoon. He seemed okay and had his tea.
He's now in bed after being sick after his tea.
I'm hoping we make it through the night without having to go to hospital

I hope he's OK and he makes it through the night with no further episodes.

Fingers crossed...once he starts he doesn't stop until medicated so we have to get him admitted within 2 hours, as that seems to reduce the length of the episode. His longest was 7 days and he was vomiting so hard he tore his oesophagus

Fingers crossed he's just picked up a 24hr bug and will be right as rain in the morning
Unfortunately with this condition, any 'bug' or infection can kick it off. He also has to avoid common foods that trigger migraines (cheese, chocolate and caffeine). we have also found that a general anaesthetic triggers his as well as stress.
It's a minefield!
Here's hoping though

Those conditions are remedied by telling him to man up.............we all had em when we were kids.....sickness has always been with us, god I was chucking since I was born, so has everyone else...........get used to it...........sorry, it happens

That's rather insensitive and very ignorant!

It isn't meant to be, we had all those sicknesses in the 60s 70s and early 80s.............why now is it so bad that it needs to be treated by a specialist........when I chucked when I was a kid, my dad did the right thing, sent me to bed with a glass of water, same as everyone........so what has changed in 60 odd years..........its natural

I had an illness which started when I was 14 and didn't stop until I was 30, it would cause periods of uncontrollable vomiting, sometimes I might go a few days or even a week without vomiting but the respite wouldn't last long. Made life difficult, I can tell you.

It's not just a matter of 'chucking up' and his condition isn't natural and is recognised worldwide.

This is so severe it can cause his kidneys to shut down and as the name suggests is a cyclic condition.
It doesn't happen once in a while, it happens regularly, sometimes an episode every week.
Telling my 13 yr old disabled child to man up IS ignorant.
