I like Pot Noodles

I remember when they came out in 1983 or was it 1984, they were like space food !

Don't eat many these days at all but will buy and eat one if they happen to catch my eye at the shops. Chicken and Mushroom * always has been and always will be the best.

I enjoy a pot noodle. Chicken and mushroom by choice but will suffer a beef and tomato. I'm not very adventurous in my quick food choices but i know what i like

Fang Bian Mian or "convenience noodles" are incredibly popular in China. They are practically identical to Pot Noodles as far as my tastebuds can discern. If you go into any petrol station or take a train somewhere, it is the snack of choice. They even do the same type of hot sauce sachets which you can add if you wish

You get little plastic fork which is taped to the side of the carton which I don't think you get with Pot Noodles.

Anyway, as a once a year thing they're great. Except I can never leave the noodles to cook in the hot water long enough cos it smells delicious

On this year's holiday we flew via Hong Kong, there were many Chinese on the flights and the airline were serving these as snacks as well as the main meals. I was astonished how they seemed to chain-eat these through the flights, it is like some sort of addiction. On one aircraft there was a delightful, demure young Chinese girl sat next to us, however when she got her hands on the pot it turned into a scene from Alien .


I've not had a Pot Noodle for years but I do regularly have the Chinese or Japanese made pots, I suppose in the mistaken belief that they are better quality.

Monosodium Glutamate is probably why.

Big scare stories about that stuff years ago, doesn't seem to do them ny harm. Not sure if it is in pot poodles or ever was though?

I'm off down to http://www.miiandu.co.uk. it has a good canteen style eaterie, had lunch in there with msUPS this week but this thread has reminded me that they have a massive range of those noodle pot concoctions, all apparently authentic.

im a fan of super noodles myself but like to go upmarket every now and then.

the question no one has asked yet - chop sticks or a fork, how do you eat yours.....

hold pot next to mouth and shovel in noisily with whatever implement happen to be at hand whilst slurping loudly and dripping soup into beard.... appears to be the traditional method of consumption.

I have never had one and don't plan to start any day soon. The same goes for Peperami. My diet is generally dreadful, but even I have limits.

I'm on 2 strikes then, have a 5 pack of Peperami hot in the fridge, best eaten by rollingvone up into a tortilla wrap .

A fairly low point ( on reflection , at the time it was banging ) in my life was boiling flat boddingtons in the morning to put onto a pot noodle. I was at a festival and had consumed a metricfarkton of substances the previous evening/ night .

I still love em.

If you get the genuine Chinese ones they come with several sachets. Spicy sauce of course. But also a sachet of MSG that you can chuck in the bin or dob in there as you see fit
