I like riding to work on my bike.

I definitely prefer riding to driving, less stressful. Unlike everyone else who spent maybe 2 minutes outside getting to the car and back, Ive had a couple of nice hours in the fresh air either side of work, just me, the world and my thoughts.

Its also mildly amusing seeing the shock on people faces when they realise you rode in the rain and it didn't bother you.

i love riding to school simply being free to do what i like on the back roads that get 10 or 15 odd cars a day! i still don't quite understand what those people are saying when they ask why do i bike to school rather than get the free bus cycling is so much effort and hard work! anyone on here able to tell me what they mean?

New job started in June. Only day I rode to work was first day. That was because I couldn't carry all the bike stuff I needed at work in my rucksack.

Driving in this country is simply w_ank.

Well well, that's the raciest post I've seen on CycleChat for quite some time, phew.

Nearly as racy as the Jolene / Sid shower scene in The Archers.

6 miles of dual carriageways in the car, taking less than 10 minutes or 3 miles of steep hills then 3 miles of descent on the bike - I'll take the 4 wheeled, 250bhp bright yellow thing sat on the drive.

Only for two reasons though.

1) I drive to work at 6.15am so no traffic anyway.

2) The most important reason - I have to pick my son up from nursery or my mums house (depending on the day) straight after work so cycling simply isn't an option.

However - my wife is a teacher so during school holidays I'll be on the bike, cursing my way up the hills. Only on dry days though, it's nice to have the option to just get in the car when it's raining.

I agree totally about traffic jams, I have some sort of phobia about wasting my life away in them and just couldn't do it day after day. Luckily I've been a postie almost all my working life so far, so have never had to!
