What a nightmare few days it's been but today has been the maddest of all so far.

We've had our entire kitchen ripped out down to the breeze blocks and the ceiling torn out, all re-boarded, plastered and was completely bare until half an hour ago. This morning, the scaffolders arrived to next doors with their wagon and all their gear, the binmen came forcing me to navigate my way with the bins past the wagon, then our gardner arrived so no peace at all but then....then the new boxed up kitchen arrived! I felt a bit sorry for the gadgies who had to park a fair way away due to the scaffolders' wagon and the skip on our drive and haul the entire boxed up kitchen from their wagon in to our formerly bare kitchen. I haven't had a second to myself today. And to think, my deman....wonderful wife has paid a sky-high price for all this disruption when I didn't think there was anything wrong with the original kitchen. We've had nothing to cook food on so it's all been sandwiches and take-aways and now we have the weekend ahead of us and no functioning kitchen (they can't fit it until the plaster's bone dry) until this time next bloody week!

Sounds a bit like our place paulb. We've had ongoing renovations since the beginning of the year, nearly done now though. Naïvely, I didn't realise how stressful it'd all be. Builders, plumbers, electricians, plasterers; they don't always play nicely together.

We've been living in a sort of building site. Making do, temporarily shifting kitchen, bathroom, bedroom only to shift back or elsewhere. I need a holiday to recover!

I did my kitchen in the spring, a week without a cooker was a mere. Takeaways and Tesco sandwiches are not a diet I can live on for long.
