The worst case I've seen was a camp of gypsies using the field they were on as the dumping ground for an illegal waste disposal racket. I reported it to the council, but they weren't interested as soon as they realised it was private land.
The most brazen case was a video on Twitter of a truck dumping a load in the middle of a residential street in London whilst a passer by filmed them doing it.
To be fair to travellers there are some that are OK
There was uproar locally a few years ago when a dozen or so caravans and lorries appeared on the park across the road from us
Lots of comments about - you know the things
anyway - the leader of the group rang the local paper and said they would be there for a few days then were moving on
and would leave the park as they found it
You can imagine the comments in the paper - the ones that were not deleted
Anyway - they left when they said they would and the counsel send a couple of truck of worked round to clear up
They had nothing to do
no only had they cleared up from themselves - and made sure not to damage the grass
they had also set their kids out to litter pick the whole part of the park they were on
The counsel got the paper to publish a short statement saying this and thanking the travellers for their attitude
And that they were putting some bollards in place to stop any other caravans in future!
but some are better than others
Brilliant, so pleased to read that . If all travelling groups did that there would be far less animosity .
There are always a few rotten apples in every barrel that give rise to collective condemnation.
