That's the attitude that Mr Summerdays is taking - I want arguements as to why he shouldn't - it doesn't look right for a start - I feel really cold looking at him and I'm sure it mustn't be good for him.

I'm still in shorts as I was all last Winter.

As a nod towards protecting my knees though, I have bought a pair of knee supports which also act as warmers.

good idea - my knees were ruined playing cricket 5 days a week as a kid so some knee supports would help greatly

Why would you want to?

Shave them off! ;)

Seriously, does freezing temps coupled with bare skin not equal poor warm-up function?

why?

got no decent longs?

been in longs for a couple of weeks now and it feels fine

For the very simple reason that I prefer wearing shorts...
longs are hanging up ready to wear though... when the time comes

The knee joint is unusual in that the blood supply to it is very poor. An activity like cycling causes more wind chill than running whilst still requiring the knee to work hard. Professional cyclists make a big point of keeping their knees warm in the winter.

Yep. Another couple of years and you'll start valuing your knees and your longs. I'm probably first into them and last out of them on my route.

I wear longs every day, except maybe when on holiday in southern latitudes. Today, with fresh snow on the hills, I wore windproof/waterproof overtrousers and with woolly hat, gloves and jacket was as snug as a bug in a rug.
