Could be, but you can do the same trick with Caterpie & Weedle.
...which are also less frequently found (at least for me) recently.

Still it means he has had his bike out more times in the last week or two than he has in the last 4 years put together!!! So what's to complain about that... and sometimes I go with him for a ride (ok a slow stopping one but good to be both out on the bike!)

For all the negative press about this game, this is the stuff that needs to be highlighted and praised. Our weekend days out around the local lake with the dog used to be full of joggers, and that's pretty much it. Ok, My better half is also playing this, and is also out catching them when we go these days. But since this game came out, the places is full of kids again, running around, joking.

I know lots of people out walking, or cycling, that otherwise sit at home.

Strangers randomly talking to each other while they play, Some stuff it has achieved is actually quite social, far more social than "social media".

What is pidgey stacking? Collecting lots of them?
Yup.

Basically, there are some species in the game that can be evolved "cheaply", e.g. for 12 candies (e.g. Pidgey, Caterpie, Weedle) rather than 25 (e.g. Ratatta) or 50 (e.g. Drowzee).

As each evolution is worth 500 experience points, players can "stack" the cheap species and evolve them in one sitting (ideally using a lucky egg, which doubles the experience points you receive for the 30 minutes it is active). So as a f'rinstance, 120 candies can evolve 10 pidgeys, netting the player 5000 (or 10,000 with a lucky egg) points, enough to move one level up in the early stages of the game.

Whilst anything that gets couch potatoes out and about is to be encouraged this pokemon thing still seems ridiculous to me.
I had a 30 something man walk into me near Bank Station earlier this week (I was walking too) because he was chasing something on the game. I may have been a little unfair when I snatched his phone out of his hands and told him, in no uncertain terms to grow up before passing his phone back. However, in mitigation he had just caused me to miss beating my top score on Tetris......
