I "think" I'm a convert (to bib shorts) but have some questions.

As per my previous post............having sworn I would never wear bib shorts I listened to advice and bought some Endura Pro.
I have just done a 30 miler on my hard tail and WOW..........
First thoughts.
  • They fitted so well......when I put them on they sat and stayed exactly where they should.
  • I could even enjoy a "pee break" which did worry me
  • As it was a cool wind I wore a base layer under the bib part**.
Questions.......
  • Was it just that they were bib's or will Endura waist shorts be just as comfortable ?
  • **When it's warm I won't be wearing a base layer.........should I expect the shoulder straps to rub ?
  • For the price (£60.00 ish) can I get better ??............and finally.........
  • Another LBS swears by Assos @ £100.00.............can anyone on CC compare the 2 and tell me if they are really worth the extra ??

No, expect them to slip and cut into your stomach like all the others.

No.

Possibly, It's a good time of year to buy bib shorts being the end of the 'season'. DHB are always good value, Gore seem to have good reductions atm too.

Assos are supposed to be one of the best, but I'm guessing at £100 they'll be at the bottom of their range. My 'best' shorts are a pair of Castelli body paint 2.0's. £170 (ish) normally but picked a pair up at half price.

You Can buy a good pair of Assos for £100 if you search around
Are assos any better only you could tell us that .. They do last longer especially the Pad
I think for what you need the bibs for the Endura would serve your purpose .

I don't like bibs and the endura are the worst ones i have as they have a mesh like strap . The best i have for padding and comfort are the team edition giant ones . Not the replica versions but the team versions . £130 a pop though . If they sold these as just shorts i would buy those instead .

Have the solved your sore rear issue? If so, they are worth the £60 and you probably don't need to spend more

I'm a big fan of B'twin. Like everything else they make, fits good, feels good, comfortable, looks good and costs about a 1/4 of similar, or inferior products. £11.99 for bibs at the moment.

+1 for B'twin.

I've got a couple of pairs of their 520 bib shorts and they are spot on (and currently on offer at £19.99) and I've just ordered a pair of the 500's that are on offer at an amazing £11.99 - how can you go wrong?
I can recommend their bib tights too for when it gets a bit cooler :okay:

My Granny always told me not to discuss my 'rear end' with strangers.............but as I feel I know you I think it will be OK
I think it may well have gone a long way towards "solving" the problem................I went on the hard-tail yesterday (first time on that bike for some weeks). LBS had just put 2 new Marathons on and they were up to maximum pressure.........plus it has the cheap seat it came with. But I did 30 miles, some of it quite rough pathway and I have only slight discomfort.
I plan on doing the BIIIG one nest week (my 68 miler) so you will be the first to know:bicycle:

+1 on this. Got the 500 tights and shorts and never had a prblem with tem in terms of discomfort of washing. Excellent product at bargain basement prices. The fit is just great for me luckily.
