I think I've lost a ring, but I'm not 100 percent sure I have so I'll keep looking. Have you ever lost something of value and did you ever find it?

I’m considering hiring a metal detector to look for a silver cuff link lost possibly on a lawn last week.

A pair of similar cuff links would cost around £30-£40 and hiring a metal detector would cost £15 for a day.

I "lost" an expensive pair of wrap around prescription sunglasses..when I say lost, I was wearing them while in my kayak and a wave turned me over.
So I know which bay they were/are off Anglesey but sadly kissed them goodbye.

Many years ago I had Nissan Sunny

and 3 sets of keys for it

at the time I had a set of keys for the house and the car keys were separate

I am not wonderful at putting keys back where they are supposed to be but as I lived along it was OK
but sometimes I would switch keys simply because the ones I used last time were not the first ones I saw

anyway - one day I was trying to take the dog for a walk somewhere that needed the car
and I just could not find any keys
not even in the place wher I put them if I tidied up - which was a couple of times a week so there was always a set there

which was weird

I ended up taking the dog out for a local walk to calm her down - so was an Alsatian (GSD in metric and they get excited and confused and worried and - well they can be rather needy)

and then started looking properly

I eventually spotted a glint in the grass on the front lawn
right at the far end by the "other half of the semi" where I would only go when I was mowing the lawn

so now I was sort of OK - but with 2 sets missing

I carried on searching and started wondering if this was not a "me" problem but a "dog" problem
so I searched the much bigger back lawn and found another set in the grass at the back
when I picked it up and looked at the dog she looked rather curious
but then - so did that and it often meant "yes I put it there for safe keeping" in dog

anyway - 2 found - 3rd still missing
after a long search I gave up - 2 was enough

then many months later the 3rd set turned up
in a place wher they would never be put - something like inside a cupboard
and they could also not fall there or anything

one of those times when you think some supernatural entity is having a laugh
not even convinced the dog was responsible for the 2 in the grass
she never tried to pick up anything else like that but no-one else could have done it
in this version of reality anyway
