I have an urge to get my mountain bike out and ride along the prom in the snow, am I insane or should I do it?

Its snowing quite heavy and not really sticking a great deal yet, but I think it would be fun.^_^

Do it!

Especially if you can then come back and dry off and wrap up warm and drink hot chocolate.

Snow is great fun, if you get to choose when and for how long you go out in it. I wouldn't ride myself, too scaredy, but I've been known to go out and walk round in it for no reason.

So long as it's fresh snow, M+ or any similar tyre will be fine.

Compacted snow will be a different matter....

Hmm. I'm in Lunnon so in my area compacted snow will be more plentiful than fresh unless I go to my local commons. Sounds like my 23s will be the better option come the commute next week.

I don't have an MTB, but I do have M+ tyres. Could that work?

I cycled in the snow today with an M+ on the back and a Gator on the front. You'll be fine, just be careful

I'm on it!! Quick walk to the shops first though!

Then MTB and warm gear, for a quick 2/3 mile ride. The wind looks the works thing to content with, its along the Mersey so it can get quite windy down there.

Fresh snow is amazingly grippy when on an MTB tyre, bit disappointingly so in my opinion!
Also hard work riding through it when it gets deep.

Enjoy!
