I was in court today

As a witness, for an incident where I was hit by a car back in February:

The driver was found guilty, given 3 penalty points, a fine and court costs totaling £465.

I had details of 2 witnesses from the scene, but neither were in court today. Without the video, it would have been his word against mine, I don't think he would have found guilty without the video, so I'm happy to see that helmet camera footage is being used as evidence.

Unfortunately, the defence seemed to be implying that I was looking for trouble since I use a helmet camera, but I'm glad to say the magistrates would not allow this.

There is additional footage after the collision proving that I did not run after the car shouting "c*nt c*nt f*cking c*nt", which the defence said I did - I will make sure to include the aftermath in any future videos I send to the police.

so any cctv fotage is looking for trouble? what a defence and well done the magistrates

If it had stayed clear, I would have stayed right, as I was turning at the end of the road. When the car turned, I slowed down, and started moving left, but didn't get very far before he barged through.

A good result at the end of the day, and you're right - you would't have got it without the camera footage.

The defence have a duty to the the prosecutor ahead of the trial what they are basing any defence on. This should have then given the prosecutor the opportunity to contact you and request the full uncut footage to disprove this defence - although to be honest, I suspect the reason they didn't is simply because it's irrelevant if he wasn't charged with failing to stop, so I'll let them off on that one!

Did he report the incident to the police himself? If he didn't I can't understand the decision not to charge him with failing to stop.

I see on youTube you don't like the idea of compensation culture. Whilst I agree, I'd urge you to reconsider. His future insurance fees will be heavier if they have to make a larger pay out, and you'll get something for your twisted ankle, and frankly, you deserve it. If he hadn't lied about the incident I'd commend your way of thinking, but as it is, he deserves everything he can get!
