hehe...Bloody Hell Johhny- 'clips him around the ears'...you're such a drama queen.
I thought the same but am convinced its unrelated. The tube is split for about 9 inches on the opposite side from the valve. The split starts at the same spot that the other punctured tubes have a small hole (ie 4 inches from the valve), so this all points towards the tube herniating through the slit and then hitting tarmac, whilst under too much pressure. It may not have been, if you'd inadvertently left a bulge of inner tube sticking out, the brakes would have burst that. How do I know this? Because I've done it too.![]()
I've heard of cunning ruses using super glue to gloop up the hole but never done it.
I was lying in bed contemplating the use of glue and a patch/boot but am worried about the friction a patch or boot will cause on the tube. I tend not to hang about and wouldn't want a blow out like this when dropping a hill at 35mph.Depending on how thick the gash is you might be able to repair with either a patch or a bit of clear nail varnish.
..I think a new tyre is called for... unfortunately... and maybe a pump...and a pressure gauge...oh and those nice new lights...and a Garmin
Who said cycling to work was cheap!!
Ah, now my go pro is pretty poor at picking up sound and worse still at picking up footage in the dark, so it is resigned to the store cupboard for the remainder of this season.on the requirements list, you missed out the video camera so we can all witness the next one!
Brakes are all aligned, ( I check them each sunday) and the tube was not popping out at the sides, I do a full visual check after inflation as these cannisters are notorious for that. One of the last p*nt*r*s I gad was due to a badly adjusted brake bloke made a hole in the tyre, resulting on a little bit of innertube popping out to be punctured by the offending brake block.
I'm torn (pun intentional) between "liking" your post.
If i "like it" it could be misconstrued as liking the fact you had an unfortunate incident.
I like your post.
I'll let you [Jonny] decide whether I should like the original post.
Ok...you win.It happened to me as well, being shot at in Lewisham.
1986, Lee High Road, a long running feud between two gypsy families, one drove past and took a few pot shots at a bloke walking just in front of me.
He missed his intended target but hit a man in a van who then crashed into an HGV which then caused a multiple pile up.
I spent a night with the Sweeney and three days at the Old Bailey.
