On goes the freak show.

That's not a nice way to refer to the BBC.

I really don't get what the desperate urge is to pick Matthew's posts apart is all about.
It's sad really. It's like watching all the 'old stagers' in an office or a factory doing all they can to knock the stuffing out of a new apprentice or office junior. Boring old farts who see someone with spirit and enthusiasm and they just have to take them down a peg or two. Maybe they are jealous of his youth? Who knows?
Matthew is young and will make his own mistakes. Like we all did and still do. He doesn't need a bunch of old fogies nagging at him all the time.

Not that he will give a flying fark anyway.

If you know what's good for you ...
Well we wont know for sure until the program airs.

I have the guys contact details anyway so if it does go up the swanny, I will be writing a few stern words to him.

For God's sake, Mathew, don't let it come to that! Surely you know that once the damage is done it's done. The best way to prevent them from broadcasting stuff that will make you squirm for years to come, and possibly put you in a vulnerable position vis-à-vis drivers and cyclists (not all of whom have your best interests at heart) is to not give them anything. Never trust journalists, Matt!

As far as journos are concerned, there are only three cycling stories...

The good news story, about a new £800,000 cycling facility between an industrial park in the south of the city and a motorway junction in the south west of the city. Cue interview with local Councillor, standing at the entrance to the facility in front of a 'Cyclists Dismount' sign with a lone dogwalker in the background, picking up some poo.

The bad news story, where traffic is disrupted due to a fatal collision between a car and cyclist. The cyclist was either not wearing a helmet or died despite wearing a helmet.

The 'debate', where a story is concocted as an excuse to show youtube footage of people crashing, shouting and fighting. Ta-daaa!

FWIW, I think this kind of programme has had its day. Matt may come out of it as either the righteous voice of reason or a screaming loon - we don't know until it's aired. It's unlikely to change public opinion and, apart from the inevitable post-mortem on here, affect Matt not one bit.
