Might give Ma Bollo a ring tonight. She's from the same area of Manchester as one of their victims and was around the same age at the time. She remembers the fear and anger in the community and it still upsets her.

The pointy end of mental health is something of a family business. Pa Bollo worked at a high-security mental hospital after he left the RAF and his brother and nephew have both worked at Broadmoor. Pa B loved the job and liked some of the patients, even though they were very damaged people who'd often done terrible things. The few he genuinely despised were like Brady, who were superficially functional but otherwise narcissistic, unfeeling, cruel and manipulative.

Pa B never crossed paths with Brady, but I doubt anyone who did have dealings with him will mourn his passing.

And that's one of the saddest parts of the whole thing. The media furore and public outcry that has continued (and no doubt will resurface now) since the crime has, in my opinion, prevented the victims' families from grieving in the normal way.
I understand what you are trying to say, but there is no normal way of grieving a child murder. I don't think you get over it no matter waht.

Brady has been wanting to die for about eighteen years, and has been force fed. I think he gained no satisfaction from being kept alive against his will.

As for those who say Hindley & Brady deliberately misled Police over where the bodies were buried - have you ever been up on Saddleworth Moor? It's pretty much the definition of bleak, with barely a landmark to work from. Maybe they were playing an elaborate game, but I believe they simply could not remember.

Hindley is dead. Brady is dead.

The BBC interviewed a lawyer this morning, who had met Brady in prison a few times. Some of Brady's remarks to him led him to believe that Brady knew exactly where Keith Bennet was - Brady even laughed that the police walked right over the spot once, when they took him up to the moors.

The worrying thing is that there are thousands of videos on the internet of people committing similar cirmes to Brady and probably hundreds of thousands of people who watch them.

Given the scumbag was trying to starve himself to death and was being force fed I truly hope his last years were a horror to him. I remember reading about the murders when they happened and they, Brady and Hindley, had recorded the pitiful cries of at least some of their victims as they tortured them.
The fact that this scumbag still refused to give real aid in identifying the burial place of one of their victims show he really was a scumbag of the first water, to the end.
I wish I had a religion, then I'd feel his suffering was just starting, as it is the world is a better place without him.

True, but he's dead now. He can't gain perverted gratification from being "notorious" anymore.
He's already had that gain. He died still controlling and knowing his notoriety would live on.
Ian who?
