Ice spike tyres

Roads in Norwich are shocking, I wouldn't describe any of it as "good", by any reasonable standards. Half the mileage today was at 5-7 mph (as a support worker with a client), and the rest was cruising at 12-15mph on my commute, with light braking and no fast or sharp turns.

The best bit of tarmac I was on today was in a cemetary, as was the worst, oddly.

I haven't lost any in mine. First 50 miles was mainly on snow though. Schwalbe will send spares.

The fixed is back as spare, and the MTB is back in the house keeping warm for the icy commute tomorrow. Find this ensures all cables are dry, and never have a freeze up that way.

I've done about 40 miles on my Snow Studs so far. Very odd noise like riding on sand. It's also very weird to see little metal bits sticking out of your tyres without being concerned. No real frost or ice yet but the council in Stockport have gritted every main road around. All set for when it does happen. Gez

Mine have been on the hybrid for a while. I'm at the stage now where they only knock 2 km/h off my average speed - and I even took the long route home today.

There's not a massive amount of ice around, but there is some, and it's nice not to be worried about it.

I'm glad I've got a choice - 23mm on my fixed for most of the year and the ice tyres on the MTB. What an invention though, bloody brill in my opinion.

It's nice to be able to go off road part of my route to work, so stops you thinking about the drag of the bike/tyres. MTB's are shocking on the road, get some rough stuff and it feels better. The change of route is good too.

I just find the Snow studs need some winding up on tarmac - feel like I'm riding an automatic the number of gear changes, only need one on the fixed

Still on the CX bike, sticking to main roads as they seem to be well gritted at the moment.
Few patches of slushy/ice at the sides of the road but not much.
Will use the TPT tomorrow for a change

It's been fine last two days - noticed loads of ice on leaky bits, especially today, but I was on the fixed. Flipping cold - i.e. it was biting (had my toasty stuff on) - passed loads of students this morning - the girls were still in bog standard tights/skirts..FFS . Here comes Mr Michelin man at WARP 9. I couldn't have done WARP 1 with their clothes.

I don't mind mixing the 'ride' but a week or more on the MTB in ice/snow.... I miss the power delivery of the fixed... slow start, bang, you are gone.

-14 here; if I didn't have spiked tyres, I wouldn't be going to work... (I could always take the bus, but that would be cheating).

Done about 300 miles on mine since mid-December.
No studs lost so far but the roads around here are pretty good, particularly if you know where all the potholes are and can plan a smooth route around them.

I emailed Schwalbe, regarding getting replacement spikes, at 12 oclock today and just had a reply from a Will Brown. They just need my postal address and they will get some out in the post to me. Very good service
