I'd start a thread about phones...

This thread reminds me of that Tv show where they had enormous 4 foot long phones and the person holding it was shouting into it in the middle of a shopping precinct.
I suspect that was observational based comedy. It was funny but a bit one dimensional. I remember maybe in the eary 1990s, the early days of mobile ownership, a guy In a car park wound down his window and spoke very very loudly down his phone as I passed... Obviously it was look at me behaviour. Funny..no. pathetic...yes.

I still may have a couple of the old Motorola Flip Phones.
Startac - still one of my favourite oldies.
There are a couple of flip smartphones available too.

No it wouldn't. Salt dissolves with moisture forming a nicely conductive electrolyte, not something I'd want in close proximity to my phone.
Rice is fine though.

When the very first Walkmans came out, they came with very distinctive orange headphones:

The Walkmans were eye-wateringly expensive, so my sis was surprised when a classmate took to sashaying thru' the corridors, obviously getting right into the groove...until she discovered that the cable ended at a paperback book in his pocket. He couldn't afford the actual player...

Sticky solution when wet. I'm fairly sure @Crackle wouldn't want his phone covered in icing. Or maybe he would, even if licking his phone may look a little odd.

My son bought a cheap pair of those recently for listening to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" soundtrack.

Let me put it this way. If you spill black coffee over your keyboard it might survive, unless you take sugar.
