Ideas needed for a solo holiday,budget of £1500-£2500

I've been retired for a year now and think I'll treat myself to a Holiday ,3 of my friends who are of a similar age to me have all developed
health problems, One needs a new knee, One needs open heart surgery another had a minor heart attack, the worst I've had is a bout of gout
brought on by drinking Cider (I'm not a big drinker 4 pints is a heavy night!) But a couple of cans a night was enough to trigger it. So as long
as I don't touch Cider then I should be OK, So think I'll have one last holiday before ill health which may or may not strike of course rules out
any holiday plans.
But where to go???
I've looked at crossing the Atlantic to New York with a few days there before flying home, Would I be bored with nothing to do but eat and drink on the way over??
An escorted trip to India ,but could I cope with the heat?,
Railway journey through the Alps, I'm no train spotter but my Grandad was a Train Driver, must be something in the genes
Escorted cycling holidays, seem quite expensive for what you get,
A week in San Francisco (I've a cousin who lives in Oakland who I've not seen in many a moon)
Maybe a destination where I could take my Brompton as long as It's not too hilly (It's only a 2 speed)
I'm not a beach bum, the thought of just sitting round a pool all day is not something I'd do
I'm at a loss as to where to go for the best
Any suggestions or recommendations??

It is not clear if this is a solo holiday or one with your friends. The honest answer to yourself will be to do something of what you enjoy. So I would suggest you ponder on latter. If this is to be something of a trip whilst you have your health. Then what trip would you enjoy, that requires you to be moderately fit and healthy?

Do you like fish, pasta, pizza, wine and hills? I've just been to Slovenia - very cycling friendly. You could easily hire an electric bike and cycle round different areas. It is hilly and winding but it's a beautiful country with great food. Also handy for visiting Austria, Italy, Hungary etc. Croatia is also lovely.

Another option is a multi base holiday in Switzerland - I've done Interlaken for the mountains, then a train down to Lake Lucerne, then another train to Ascona for R&R.

Go skiing in Austria.

Single supplements there tend to be low or non existent, so you can get a decent half board package for around £1200, plus €400 for a weeks lift pass and then need ski/boot hire if you don't have your own. SHould come in well under £2k in total.

For the last five years i've used train and bike to get to Harwich, taken the ferry to the Hotel van Holland, and then followed my nose.

If you did that you'd have The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France to explore.

If it rains, have a rest day or take the train. If the sun is shining enjoy where you are. Hotels or camping.

From previous googling I think ha would need a 2nd mortgage for a saga holiday.
I am also thinking of a solo holiday as my health has improved somewhat although walking is a bit limited.......hence my googling saga.
Unlike the OP I like the beach/sea and can enjoy a chill couple of hours just relaxing in the sun.

When are you thinking (what weather are you looking for) and what is the budget? What do you like doing if you don’t like sitting on a beach?
Take a look at Intrepid tours, not specifically solo but generally low single supplements, smallish groups, mixed age ranges, just mooch through their pages and see. You can then ask Flight Centre or Trailfinders to price up the flights if you see something you like! Many will include sightseeing, some walking, maybe some cycling (they have cycling holidays in Vietnam for example), maybe a bit of beach
I enjoyed my first cruise around the Caribbean in March but the thought of 5 or more days on the Atlantic when it could be rough is 😵

Can recommend Thailand, but then again, I'm a bit biased. The air fares have gone up recently, same goes for most flights I guess.
Day to day costs are very low, everyone I know who's been here says they had a great holiday, and look forward to another trip.
