Anyone know if this is a hybrid or a road bike with swapped out bars??

The latter, Aqua a drop bar roadbike originally. Looks good though

A guy has given it to me to sell, whatever we get it’s 60-40 his favour, I do all the eBay stuff and delivery etc and it becomes vacant from his garage.

doing some Googling should give you the answers as to what it is... reckon it had drops initially...does the seller not know?

Could it have been this? - flat bar originally but now with what appears to be an adjustable stem: https://www.thebikelist.co.uk/orbea/aqua-dama-fitness-2009
Also, looking at that more detailed spec on the Fitness model link, it matches the saddle and wheelset description I have in front of me:

Wheelset: FORMULA8 /KRONOS/BLACK SPOKES
Saddle: SELLE ITALIA LADY X2 BLACK

Looking more like a ladies bike

I think you’ll get more bites if it were a road bike. I shouldn’t mention the fact it’s a ladies model . Looks like a largish size which should help. Good luck.

Can you simply swap handle bars on these things ? Or are they not built for that ?

Would it be worth spending money on to get a better deal later on?

You could change the bars to drops but you also need to change the shifters too. Not really worth it on an eleven year old bike unless you could find some cheap but you might get a better price.

The Sora might be a red herring / later addition to match whatever shifters were on the flat bars, as that was clearly a reasonable spec bike back in the day to be given the carbon rear stays as well as carbon fork, i.e. my old Bianchi that came with those had Ultegra. pity it lost its drops along the way.
