If being paid to cycle wasn't enough...

So as well as being paid to cycle to work the glorious figure of £1 per day, today I had the added bonus of being told as one of the top 12 cyclists for the company I had a free check with the bike doctor next week and the company would pay for £300 worth of repairs / work (although may be able to negotiate more)

Myself and some of my cycling friends at work were fairly gobsmacked by this, so new gear set I think for me. It's nice to work for a company that seem to do stuff for their eco-commuters

Oh woow, i thought the company I worked for was good, but we don't get paid to cycle to work or free maintenance.
We do get fresh towels everyday to wash our stinky bodies when we get to work, and there is a traveling workshop that comes into the basement which we can use.

I could claim 20p/mile for travel expenses by bike. However, by the time I'd found out about this I'd got a bike on the Cycle 2 Work scheme, so I can't now claim

Never heard of companies paying you to ride to work! I do think that other than C2W there should be other tax relief or green perks available to you for not running a car!!

Even though I work for a big organisation, when I first claimed my 20p/mile for cycling on work business a few years back I was clearly the first ever to do so, as I had to go through all sorts of hassle with the payments office, who took a lot of convincing that it was a legitimate claim. I practically had to slap people with HMRC documents before they'd pay up

There's some savvy employers out there.

Present such expenses as savings then it makes sense.

1 less car parking space to provide vs a bit of a monetary incentive to the employee.

A big employer in my neck of the woods provides free mechanical work once a month and meal vouchers for every day that a commute is done by bike.

International Company...I work for Kingfisher who own B&Q and that whole chain. Must be quite a good tax saving especially since they've just introduced cycle scheme last week as well. It is very nice step, just glad I'm one of the 12.
