If you would claim for mileage costs and fuel in a car, could you still claim for that money if you were doing the same route for the same purpose on a bike?
WTF does that mean?
bollox
Never heard of companies paying you to ride to work! I do think that other than C2W there should be other tax relief or green perks available to you for not running a car!!
Well i'm with Walmart/Asda so i'll contact hr and see what they say!!International Company...I work for Kingfisher who own B&Q and that whole chain. Must be quite a good tax saving especially since they've just introduced cycle scheme last week as well. It is very nice step, just glad I'm one of the 12.
Yes, you can claim 20p a mile if it's for a journey that you would have claimed car money forIf you would claim for mileage costs and fuel in a car, could you still claim for that money if you were doing the same route for the same purpose on a bike?
get it taken off your tax code instead using form P87/D - this has more benefits as it lowers your thresholdsEven though I work for a big organisation, when I first claimed my 20p/mile for cycling on work business a few years back I was clearly the first ever to do so, as I had to go through all sorts of hassle with the payments office, who took a lot of convincing that it was a legitimate claim. I practically had to slap people with HMRC documents before they'd pay up
I doubt it. I work for a green construction company and its a battle to get anything done at local level. even copying in UK head office doesn't get much response.I'm tempted to try discussing this with my local execs in the company I work for, a multinational called Thales. Being a large company, they should be able to support schemes like this.
