Which bike should I ride tomorrow?

Fixed with 28 inch Armadillos. Fixed bike has a 'cross style frame with plenty snow-clearance but does have full guards fitted.

Cyclocross bike with fat mud tyres. Bike is set up for 'cross, gears and no guards.

Last time I used the 'cross bike, it was pretty good. I ran the tyres pretty soft, but I've not compared that against using a higher pressure so I don't know if it helped.

I've never ridden fixed in the snow, but that might be good too.

Either way I'll be getting up early to go for a burn around the park before anyone else messes up the snow..

I don't know much about fixed but aren't cyclocross bikes designed for bad weather?

Last week riding the fixie on ice paths I found that I couldn't mentally keep pedalling while the bike was sliding about. As soon as the wheel(s) slipped I naturally stopped pedalling, (which didn't exactly help the situation.)

I used my mountain bike with good chunky knobblies on it for a solid week of commuting last year - not fast, but felt secure. This was after I'd foolishly gone into work on my tourer one day and ended up pushing it for miles as the snow was just too deep...

Just had some snow here - at the office with a bike - considering pushing it home. Weather looked ok this morning.

Any advice - let some air out maybe? Bike is a hybrid with 700/35 tyres.

For me.. i'll have to see what it is like in the morning. if it looks like just ice, i will take the roadie, if it's light snow i'll take my hybrid and if it's too heavy i will take public transport.
i need to get my mountain bike fixed and set that up with some studded tyres

I'm leaving my bike at work as it's already snowed in parts of London and although it hasn't laid I don't want to get caught half way home in a blizzard. Tomorrow it's expected to be between 2-5cm deep. The Met Weather Office are issuing a severe weather warning.

I might go with the crosser, if only because it'll be more fun in the park and won't get bunged up with snow.

I do wish I had a trike too, but I've got nowhere to put one.

I notice the Met office website is asking us to submit info regarding depth of snow, date time and location.
What is this obsession with snow?;) They haven't asked us to measure wind, rain or sunshine in the past.

Hello.

I've got Dawes Audax 2006 or Dawes Audax 2007 to choose from.

Watching snow on the cameras and it's settling.;)

Well I got up early to get the 'cross bike ready, put lights and raceblades on it, whacked on the "mud" wheels.

Called in to work to find the site is closed due to "heavy snow"

Lightweights.

Snow day for me!* and I left my laptop at work.

*probably, the closure will be reviewed at 10 am.

Nice! There is a very thin (and I mean thin) layer of snow outside at the moment. It looks the kind that will melt and turn into ice in places. MTB at the ready!
