Its not a problem because they will all end up getting eaten by us once we run out of fish, just like we will with Basking sharks,Great whites , Dolphins, Penguins, etc, etc.

It's fairly irrational if you're out riding a bike in Manchester. Even if they could get up the Ship Canal, they'd be useless on the road.

You are quite right Arch, I think the chances of me running into one are fairly slim  spiders on the other hand

I found that rather interesting

Wow, yes. I suppose it's not a million miles from the sort of noises dolphins make anyway (not so sure about Orcas). I like the way it's sounding like a motor cutting out, just the sort of noise that would herald disaster in a film...

I reckon Douglas Adams had it right about the dolphins being cleverer than humans, because we invented the wheel and war and stuff and they just mucked about in the water (we of course, think we're cleverer for the same reasons).

It's no different to people barking at dogs or meowing at cats. The dogs and cats often understand human speech be we have no idea about their language.

The Orca seemed to be doing the same, trying to communicate with the boat.

I still think most animals are more intelligent then most humans.

You think Orcas are formidable predators to be scared of?

I know one that is even scarier! Not only would this particular predator be smart enough to work out how to launch a group attack on seal, but they would probably do it with weapons too. Indeed, this particular predator is so well adapted to being a predator that it is able to build weapons that allow it to kill whatever it wants, pretty much at will. The terrifying thing is that there are more than 6 billion of this particular predator on the planet and one of their favorite pastimes is killing things. Especially each other. I can't quite remember what it's called though ...
