Only a fecking idiot would say that the BBC wasn't worth the money. Most of the other channels are complete drivel and that doesn't even begin to mention BBC3, 4, 4 Extra, 5 (sometimes), 6.
Idiots.
This includes @Marmion:thumbsup:

Nice that you are tolerant of other peoples views of the BBC . I agree that other channels are complete drivel; but so is the BBC.. The crucial difference being that you are not forced into subscribing to the other drivel just because you own a TV.. Radio 3 & 4 are good? You having a laugh? Radio 2 is just about ok when Ken Bruce is on, and Steve Wright to a lesser extent. I only listen to Radio 2 in the car now, as internet radio is not available. In the house, it is Absolute FM, Magic, Clyde 2, Smooth, Rock, or any number of excellent independent stations.

If you admit, in public, to liking radio 2 then we must, I fear, agree to differ.

I did say it was with conditions attached; i.e. only KB or SW, and only in the car . Where I live the FM reception for non BBC radio stations is pretty much non existent, otherwise I probably wouldn't listen to radio 2 at all.

Nevertheless, I would pay double the license fee if the extra went towards a gallows to string up Ken Bruce and Steve Wright. I fear that we're worlds apart on this matter, and maybe even nations apart, if you lot feck off and leave us in peace on September 18th.

Add a third one for Jeremy Vine and you're on!

Be useful if the people saying 'nothing I want to watch on the BBC' could indicate what they *do* watch..helps us separate the 'Storage Wars' from the 'Sky Sports' from the 'Russia Today's

American NPR is funded by contributions, both from industry and individuals. So three or four times a year, they go on the Tv and beg for money, as on the radio. As for me, if paying a fee meant no more NPR begging, I'd pay it in a minute. (I already do contribute) Your Tv and radio are great for 150 quid.

I've never paid for a TV license. Never have and never will. There's no law enforcing the licence and the people who pay the money to BBC are naive.

Surely a lot of people wouldn't if they didn't have to?

When you look at how the BBC aren't able to compete for the rights of some big events it makes you wonder how much we're actually paying for freeview commercial TV in the purchase price of goods that are advertised on there.
You don't have to. It's just that people aren't educated in the area of what they're trying to enforce, thus handing over money. It's a bit like 'council tax'... you don't have to pay it, but people do because they're scared.

No I do because I live in a society that has some rules, and generally I follow them. So red traffic light lights, TV licences, not killing people, not stealing bikes I do, not because I'm scared but because they are the rules! But then I'm the sort of person that in a referendum a number of years ago where we voted on whether we wanted the council tax to go down (with loss of services), stay the same or go up (improved services), I voted to put them up (most didn't).

It would have been easier for me to reply if you'd tagged me properly you blethering southern ponce.
It's not surprising that you like the BBC as it caters for your twee middle-class southerness.
