You really can't see the irony can you petal? For someone who parades their learning and wisdom across these pages with monotonous regularity, you really are quite dense. I could ask the question, "Why would you want to insult someone's birthplace?" or "Why do you feel the need to belittle someone for their grammatical mistakes?". Is this forum some form of Violent Passion Surrogate for you?

Bollo you really must take note that a few on here do this and more all the time, even you use the name petal to antagonise in your answer. Its done subtley by the real experts at it which shows them as very nasty types in reality no matter how angelic they try to portray themselves on here ,but done all the same, so why try and use this sort of talk as a way to answer?

Close overtakes have always happened and they always will so let’s have a law drawn up to stop it happening. That’s a brilliant idea, we have laws against murder but has that stopped people getting murdered?

Close overtakes are not the end of the world, but they are cited as a reason why people don't want to mix with motorised traffic (the title of this thread is instructive). From what I can adduce from your contributions on this thread, you seem content with the status quo.

There are laws in other countries that deal with minimum overtaking distances vis-a-vis cyclists and this might be worth capaigning for - assuming there was even the slightest possibility that the law would/could be enforced.

What's really pathetic here is that someone posts about their first commuting trip, obviously a bit off by what's happened and instead of support and advice he gets half a dozen pages about choreography and inciting drivers etc. Although how he incited anyone by cycling along inside a cycle lane is beyond my ken.

Instead of going on ad naseum about how close overtakes have always happened, why not give a bit of support?

Don't worry PP, this is the longest thread I have ever started on any forum. I think it is all quite funny and I am ignoring 90%.

If you'd cycled 2 feet further to your left this thread would be 5x longer...
