My sister taught me this, having seen Jamie Oliver do it, so I expect she'll pass it on, but:

If you hold spaghetti just so, with a slight twist in the bundle, upright in the boiling water, and let go, it fans out really neatly round the pan and subsides in as it softens.

Moderately impressive, and easy to do casually. I doubt Oli or Max will need help to impress the girls, but it's worth knowing.
