When my youngest son was a toddler, he told us he didn't want to be called Michael anymore and could he come up with his own name? Yes of course, we said, what do you want to be called from now on? Always a little tinker, he came out with "Curtain Plopper"! To this day, I have zero idea where that came from but we stuck to it and called him Curtain Plopper constantly for the next half hour until he could clearly see he'd made a big mistake. We were going on about the school register when he went there and how "interesting" the other kids would find such an unusual name when he got quite flustered and pleaded with us to forget hs daft suggestion and that, in restrospect, Michael was a perfectly nice name after all!
