Ightam Mote

It's been quite a while since I last passed Ightam Mote in Kent. The road was deteriorating back then, anyone been recently? Has it been resurfaced?

The cafe there was one of my favourite stops. Just the right distance from home. About 15 miles. But alas havent been there since last summer.

It's the road to Hildenborough indicated that I'm interested in. As it approaches the Mote it used to be verging on dangerous

Instead, dont turn right on Mote Road to IM. Carry on until the junction, turn left and follow the road to Underiver, then do the far nicer Underiver Hill at 14 %, much nicer.

My route is from north to south, from the top of Exdown, past Shipbourne, then right onto Hildenborough RD, the right into Mote Rd, up to Ightham Mote and a coffee. None of these roads were particularly bad when I rode them.

They resurfaced the road a couple of years back. Before then it was pretty dreadful.
