I'm alone and in pain, sympathy please

It sounds to me like you might have trapped the sciatic nerve if you are in that much pain down the one side.

Give NHS direct a call in the first instance on 0845 4647. They are very good and should help get you some pain relief.

I find sleeping on my side in the foetal position eases things when I do my back in, and keep your feet and knees together when you get out of bed as I find this the most painful bit in the morning. Regular gentle stretching helps to keep things moving.

A very good friend of mine is an osteopath. I do swear by the work they do and have helped me when conventional treatment has failed.

NHS direct uses proper docs and proper triage nurses. they know their onions and will give advice a lot faster than the out of hours docs.

Well I've got an informal 'prescription' from a doctor source, all available anti-inflamms, most of which I had (muscle spasm back pain is not new to me, though never before had it this bad), I've taken them and have a schedule for tomorow. I can already feel the Diazepam kicking in.

You know it's funny. Just the last month or so, I seem to have had lots of minor things, ear ache, knee pain, this and a few other things. Odd how these things come in bunches.

 at least it's happened at the end of the week, rather than the beginning. On the plus side if you're stuck at the pc you'll now tick over to 8,000 posts really quickly.

I'm kind of hoping that tomorrow will see a big improvement. Starting to feel quite spaced out now.
