As Hobbes said, Molton Brown. They do a number of travel bags with small tubes and bottles of their stuff which are really good and a much more expensive leather travel bag with the same thing. Cost is probably a bit higher than £50 but she's worth it isn't she?

Links have got some nice stuff, but if she's not into Jewellery, there's no point. And it is on the pricey side.

How about a more practical gift such as a Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush (or Oral B equivalent)? Just bought my missus one for travelling as our existing set is pretty much fixed in place in the bathroom. Some good offers in this area on Amazon.

She hates cooking. She is a veggie. She doesn't drink tea or coffee. She is permanently cold, probably because she llves on almost no food at all. She doesn't "do" camping, museums, galleries, cinemas (too dirty), any cheap clothing or shoes, doesn't wear perfume, jewellery, she has a Roberts DAB radio, expensive leather gloves, Bose iPod phones, a Bose dock, warm pyjamas, a Swiss Army knife, many warm designer sweaters, many pairs of boots.... need I go on?

The only things she seems to enjoy are a glass of red wine and chocolate, both Swiss dark and drinking and very expensive face cream. The only hints she has dropped all year are that she can't read the text on her phone, which she says is old-fashioned. However I don't think she would like the phones somebody kindly linked somewhere above as they are not iPhones or Sony Ericssons. I wouldn't dare buy her a phone because she would almost certainly not like my choice.

See my problem?

These are the things she likes/haves...and yet you feel she would like something mechanical?.....Are you sure, she sounds like a gal who likes the finer things.

Your problem is, that you are setting too low a budget with too high expectations.

Mrs RR must be worth a little more...an iPhone is under £100 right now (£34 a month line rental)...I know as Mrs Jeez has one in her stocking from Santa..although Santa had to blow a small bloody fortune getting her out of her existing contract...arrrgh.

How about this......

If she likes a glass of wine, there is a vineyard down in Cornwall called Camel (or something) that do a vineyard tour and stop over, you cycle around the vineyard (topical) sampling vines and stop for a lovely meal and a drink...its about £100 but is a summer activity...something to look forward to.

beautiful place, lovely people and a real laugh as you slowly get more and more squiffy trying to ride about the place.

its got bikes, its got wine....all you need is a text related element and you have the perfect gift.

I'll find a link and post it in a sec, phones ringing!

camel vally tours....accomodation on site (in the cottages) is a bit steep ....but you can share with mates to split the cost...good for a weekend away with friends.

Tours are only a tenner

We loved it.

I reckon with flights, accomodation and tour you could be in for around £100 if you go with a few mates and split the cost.

Mrs RR must be worth a little more...

I was brought up (in a frugal household, of course) not to see people as having a monetary value.... No point in spending tons of cash on something not right, just for the sake of spending more..

Anyway, I think RR said he'd got main pressies, but was looking for extras. £50 has been my entire present budget some years....

good point, well put...I was getting swept along with the commercialism of Xmas

I shall rephrase,

RR, perhaps you need to lower you expectations for the budget you are suggesting after all, you have a main gift, what more does Mrs RR need

On the above note, the best gift I ever got was a painting from a friend who had just started experimenting with oils...it was/is an awful painting, but is still one of my favourites.

RR Do you have a creative outlet that you can express for Mrs RR

oh just back to this thread- bit of a longer term gift but if she is a veggie - could you not make a reservation at a local veggie restaurant in the new year and pay for the meal?

ok RR - lots of what she doesn't like - sounds like she does have quite expensive tastes in what she does like...hmmmm.

Any chance of a budget increase? That's the only thing I can think of as that widens the options or if you wanted to buy a phone (those Iphones are a lot of money though)

what hobbies does she do- give us a fuller picture of who she is so we can pitch better ideas.
