Yes - a fair number of the 193 members of the UN would be a good start.

Maybe hate is a strong word, but, consider:
Italians by large look upon their african immigrants with disdain - and by large they despise the eastern europeans
The French and the English? no love lost there.
The germans by large don't like the turks.
The Greek Cypriots call the Greeks from mainland Greece all sorts of names, while the mainlanders call the cypriots pesants.
That's the ones that come to mind, no doubt there is more.
As individuals though, we are free to not follow other's prejudice.
I like the sentence "enforced-multiculturalism" I think it means that every time we find something we don't like about other nationalities living in the uk, the government makes a law against expressing it

I have a flag pole and I fly the saints flags on the proper days but I was surprised how many did not recognise the proper flags of St David and Patrick and it took ages for my Scots neighbours to see what I meant when I raised a pirate flag above the saltaire (I had just had to pay horrible prices for B&B between Edinburgh and Glasgow)

I would say that the English are head and shoulders above any other nation on Earth for our tolerance of other people, I would say that we invented enforced multi-culturalism.

Defination of the word 'Tolerate' to put up with something that you do not particulier care for. ie i tolerated toothache till i could get to the dentist.

Immigration didn't just happen last week Tuesday....you do know that

There have always been different religious beliefs in England.

what i dont understand though...just to deviate from th epoint for a bit....is when 'foriegners' live here and do nothing but complain about the uk and our ways, traditions and the weather....I've seen that a lot. The uk offers these people a lot they dont have 'back home' or they would not be here I guesss...so my thoughts are...if you're going to just take and winge, instead of contribute ( and many many do contribute) then either shut up or pack up.

Like the vast majority of the people in this country that complain about the weather

In History at School, we are taught all about how you evil Englanders took over our country and the likes of The Battle Of Banockburn and Stirling Bridge was the best thing ever in the history of the universe bar none, or something to that effect anyway.

It is hardly surprising I guess, but, still, it makes me want to give the anti - English person a bloody good slap - it was several hundred years ago now and no English person living was personally responsible for crying out loud!

I suspect that with the calls for independence, all the very worst of the bile has yet to emerge, and I am for independence too by the way.

Scots () wha hae wi' Wallace bled
Sadly, now, are all quite dead  (heh heh - evil Englishman)

First Scotland and then the Shetlands and Orkneys will declare independence and take nearly all your oil (He, heh :hyper:)

You didn't answer my question though did you ?
And yes we do lead the world in tolerance... is it now a crime to praise the English ?
How many countries in the world are there where my life expectancy could be measured in hours purely because I am a white Englishman ?
We are the product of many nations that have conquered us in the past, we fought and lost.
For a 1,000 years we have emigrated and accepted immigration without benefits.. the immigrants had to stand on their feet and contribute.
For 50 years we have opened the doors to anyone who seeks refugee status ( despite travelling through many "safe" countries ), economic and health tourists, crime warlords, terrorists, pickpockets, frauds, muggers and rapists etc etc... and actually pay them to go about their business...and actually make it a crime to speak up about the situation.
This is tolerance of the highest kind.
I have no problem with anyone of any race colour or creed who wants to come here and contribute and long may this continue.
I do have a problem with anyone who sees this country as an easy ride and an opportunity to import their criminal operations.
I also have a problem with those who have short memories when knocking their host countries population

I've been watching this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01dxrdz I hope this is an unbiased program.
It is a bit deep for me. So if I've got it all wrong, sorry.

Definitely, never base your beliefs about a Nation on what you learn at school. Nothing against schools, they do have to cram a lot into a short time. Plus when you are young you don't always listen, or understand. Without all the facts prejudice can fill the gaps.
I think people all over the World should delve into their own Nations history before having a go at us (the English). If we look back through history there must be some other nationalities with a shady past. I know two wrongs don't make a right. But the words glass houses and stones spring to mind.
just a thought.

Yes there is no love lost when we play the old enemy and ther is banter with the white rose supporters who give as good as the get? never seen any trouble or ill feelings after the game so all in all WHY CANT WE JUST ALL GET ON WITH EACH OTHER ! My dad fought in the british army and was a very proud englishman who lived most of his life in wales but allways called Norwhich is home.
