i started doing ling-ish exposures of ducks in flight. went down to about half a second on some. it was a bit hit and miss, more miss really, but whiled away the winter hours. ducks were good as they're reasonably large and have loads of movement for the best motion blur.

as for learning something new... British Sign Language and snake keeping. don't try both at the same time as a python around the hand can hinder fingerspelling.
