I was riding home yesterday (would have posted this then but was knackered - over 35 *C working conditions all day took it out of me) and got on to the Itchen Bridge. I get to about HERE and realise theres some plonker riding towards me in my side on the cyclelane.
This is only the second time I've seen someone do something stupid like this, but it was enough for me to be a little angry about it. As they were some way off I began to think that they present me with considerable hazard because if I move out into the main traffic flow I'm at risk. He can see behind me so sod him! Either he can stop or move to MY right. I'm not moving, or slowing.
I held my ground, staring at him. Mid 30s, wrap-around shades, bald head on a normal bike (not really a BSO) with flatbars. We came within 12 feet, I said something like "What on earth are you doing??" and he had to come to a compete stop and lean right over. I didnt even exit the cyclelane, it had to be the worlds slowest "buzz" anyone had seen.
TBH I was expecting some lip off him and ready to go back and have a chat. Nothing, either he got the message or he just didnt give a s***. Looked like he bumped the pavement and went down the slope towards the underpasses.
Every other cyclist I saw yesterday behaved, he was the only one I saw acting like a c*ck.
