When I was at uni, almost everybody loved Phil Collins and Tina Bloody Turner. I really couldn't stand their music at that time. I was, of course, very cool .

He was a fantastic and creative drummer, jazz as well as rock, but I was just hearing on the news that he is unable to play them now, they didn't say why not. Whatever anyone thinks of him, that's a bit sad.

I heard that too but at least his retirement hasn't been wasted; apparently he can sing now.

Heard a similar interview earlier this year - I'm sure they said it was some kind of nerve problem.

Great drummer, but when he got behind the mic it all went a bit wrong. He must be a resilient sort to have put up with the near constant abuse he's received since taking over Genesis.

Whether you like him or not, he has been very sucessful.
He is one of only three artists who have sold over100 million albums as a solo artist and also in a group. The other two are.

Telegraph says - "In 2011, Collins revealed he had lost the hearing in his left ear, had nerve damage in his hands, and had a dislocated vertebra in his neck, which meant he was no longer able to play the drums."
