With all the rain we've had, the council have put these familiar signs out in places:

And it was only today that I noticed that the car has, in fact, just done something impossible!

As my wife says when she's about to put a wash on for my lycra shorts...impressive skidmarks!

Anyone who drives regularly will know that this is the magical first two weeks in November when drivers of lorries, cars and anything else on the motorway are inexplicably drawn together and keep bashing into each other. As soon as the clocks go back there are masses of accidents on the motorways. Any journey I do seems to triple in length...

But it's still impossible! One skid mark crosses over the other - at least it looks like that to me: One skid mark going almost straight, the other going in a big S-shape.

Nope, its fine if the front of the car is being steered straight while the back end is sliding about to make the 'S' shaped mark.

I'm fairly sure the chav in a Mini managed to pull that off last night outside my house. Even after pulling a 180 and bumping into a curb he seemed to carry on enjoying wheel-spinning away from every corner. Must spend a fortune in tires.

You mean he does not go taking them off other cars

When you are skidding anything becomes possible.. Who would be worried if it just had neat parallel lines?

I guess that would be the cost of buying them from the States?

You are looking at the car facing the same direction all the time, look at as if it was going forward and the back wheels lock up and skid and then the car spins 180 degrees so the car is then going backwards, there fore the skid marks on the floor will cross over.

This one's fairly impossible without a ramp and a good run-up:

But unfortunately this one is all too common:
